This is an exercise I love to use with all my athletes to build core stiffness.
Why is building core stiffness so important?
1. Protect the spine and build spinal stabilization. The number 1 priority for the human body is to maintain spinal stability, because it houses the all important nervous system.
2. Essential for high force transfer between the hips and shoulders. You need a stiff core as a solid anchor point for the shoulders and hips to efficiently generate forces through the body.
